• Biography and accomplishments or why Amenmesse was famous: During this period both Amenmesse and Seti II claimed to be pharaoh - Seti II controlling Lower Egypt and Amenmesse controlling Upper Egypt. Amenmesse was the half-brother of Seti II and not the heir to the throne. He desecrated the tomb which was being built for Seti II. However, Seti II finally gained control of Egypt and gained revenge over Amenmesse by completely destroying his tomb, erasing all references to his name.
